Peer Review Process

Peer Review Process of JOSCE

All manuscripts submitted to the Journal of Science and Civic Education (JOSCE) undergo a comprehensive peer review process. We only publish articles that have been reviewed and approved by at least two independent reviewers with relevant expertise. The review process follows a double-blind system, where both authors and reviewers remain anonymous to ensure objectivity.

Stages of the Peer Review Process

  1. Manuscript Submission by Authors
Authors submit their manuscripts through the JOSCE online submission system (OJS).

  2. Initial Screening by Editor and Journal Manager
The editorial team conducts a preliminary evaluation to ensure the manuscript fits the journal’s scope and meets the basic submission requirements. A plagiarism check is also conducted using software such as Turnitin. Editors reserve the right to accept, reject, or proceed with the manuscript to the review stage.

  3. Peer Review by Reviewers
Manuscripts that pass the initial screening are sent to a minimum of two reviewers for double-blind peer review.

  4. Editorial Decision Based on Reviewer Feedback
The editor considers the reviewers’ evaluations and communicates a decision to the author. Possible outcomes include:

    • Accepted without revision

    • Accepted with minor revisions

    • Accepted with major revisions

    • Rejected with the possibility of resubmission

    • Rejected outright

  5. Revision by Authors
Authors revise the manuscript based on the reviewers' and editor’s feedback and resubmit the revised version.

  6. Re-evaluation by Reviewers
The revised manuscript is sent back to the original reviewers (or new ones, if necessary) for further evaluation. If the revisions are satisfactory, the manuscript will be accepted for publication.

  7. Galley Proof and Final Publication
The accepted manuscript goes through a final galley proofing process for formatting and final checks before being officially published.

This structured process ensures that every article published in JOSCE meets high academic standards and maintains scholarly integrity.
